Seasons & Weather

Costa Rica has a tropical climate year-round as it sits so close to the Equator. While the temperature doesn't change by a great deal, there are variances in each area due to rainfall, elevation and geography. Tropical rainforests cover much of the country.
The Pacific coast and the plateau have a dry season from December through April and a rainy season from May through November, while the climate is equatorial in the eastern plains and coasts (but also in the southernmost part of the Pacific coast) with lots of rainfall year-round.

Hurricane season runs from June through November with historically more storms between August and October.
