Seasons & Weather

Guyana has a tropical climate and is hot and humid year-round. The heat is often tempered by Atlantic sea breezes.
There are two main rainy seasons (May to August & November to January and two relatively dry seasons (usually February through March & September to October). While rain amounts and intensity can vary by region, May through to August is very rainy everywhere.

While Guyana is outside of the path of hurricanes, on the odd occasion a very low latitude hurricane that affects Trinidad and Tobago and the northeastern coast of Venezuela may also affect Guyana, in terms of rain and large waves on the coast (particularly in the northernmost part). The Caribbean hurricane season runs June through November with historically more storms between August and October.
